Destination
Padma Chalets is in Youngs Siding, situated right on the Nenamup Inlet on the Nullaki peninsula, which is about 15 minutes’ drive from Denmark and 25 minutes’ drive from Albany.
The picturesque country town of Denmark is located in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia. It is conveniently located just 20 minute drive from the Nullaki Peninsula on which Padma Chalets is located.
There are endless stunning locations to visit and experience close by. Beautiful bays and beaches, National Parks and native forest walks and rambles, the famous Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi trail is only a few hundred metres down the road and more. Great fishing from either land or boat locations are almost guaranteed to provide a feed.
Iconic locations such as Green Pools, Elephant Rock, Cosy Corner Beach, Lowlands Beach, our local Anvil Beach and West Cape Howe National Park are also close by.
The historic port city of Albany is located in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia. It is only 30 minutes drive from the Nullaki Peninsula on which Padma Chalets is located. It was once a whaling port but originally a military outpost created to stop the French (Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte) from laying claim to Western Australia. It even predates the formation of the swan river colony so was the first European settlement in WA. Iconic locations such as The Gap, Frenchmans Bay, The Gallipoli Memorial, Princess Royal Harbour, as well as Cosy Corner Beach and West Cape Howe National Park are all close by.
We are fortunate to be in one of the most beautiful and most pristine places in the world with easy access to many of the unique natural and cultural features of the South West.

Our secluded retreat
When you stay with us at Padma Chalets you are enveloped by the tranquillity of the bush. Your soundtrack by day is the rich birdsong of kookaburras, cockatoos and wetlands birds, and by night you will be enchanted by the chorus of frogs who have made their home at Padma and captivated by the friendly possums that visit most evenings and are always keen for a natural treat.
Explore the
area
There are many local walking and biking trails and National Parks where you can experience the pristine natural beauty of the South West. You can also explore the range of tourist drives along the coast and through the Karri forest to get a full appreciation of the diverse ecological features of the area.
We are fortunate to have access to both the inlet and the ocean where you can go fishing, swimming, surfing, paddling or snorkelling. The options are endless.
Our local beaches are characterised by ancient granite outcrops, white sands and crystal-clear water. Whether it’s a warm summer day or a windy winter afternoon you will be delighted by the rugged natural beauty of our quiet coastline.
If you’re interested in food and wine, the area has a range of world-class distilleries, wineries, restaurants and cafes where you can sample the best of what the South West has to offer. There are also many local artisans producing unique artwork, pottery and jewellery.
Seasons of the South West
During the month of January, February, March, April, November and December you are most likely to experience good weather with pleasant average temperatures that fall between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. The months of May, June, July, August and September have a high chance of precipitation. The warmest month is February with an average maximum temperature of 25°C. The coldest month is August with an average maximum temperature of 15°C. July is the most wet month. This month should be avoided if you are not a big fan of rain. If you wish to explore this region to its fullest potential the best time to visit would be during the summer months.
Summer
(DECEMBER – FEBRUARY)
Summer time here falls in between December to February. Summer is the most popular time to visit Denmark/ Albany as the average daily temperature remains at balmy 25 degree Celsius. This is also the peak season.
Daytime temperatures range from 25-28°C in summer and average 13°C in the evenings.
Autumn
(MARCH - MAY)
Autumn months of March to May are as great for visiting Denmark/Albany as summer is. This time of the year sees clear blue skies and temperate days that offer ideal opportunities for visiting National Parks, fishing or sipping wines in vineyards. This is also the time when the whole of Western Australia beams with food festivals such as Taste Great Southern, the largest food and wine festival in Western Australia.
Daytime temperatures range from 20-23°C in autumn and average 12°C in the evenings.
Winter
(JUNE - AUGUST)
Winter months of June to August in Denmark sees an average of 16 degree Celsius. Although the weather remains decently cool enough to explore, yet this city remains relaxed and receives relatively less crowd thus being off season. However, if you are visiting Denmark during this time, do not forget to drive through the lush green countryside with evenings ending with warm open fire.
Daytime temperatures range from 17-18°C in winter and average 8°C in the evenings.
Spring
(SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER)
Each year from September to November the area explodes into colour with windflowers blooming at their best.
This is a lovely time of the year to experience the Great Southern region as we. have nice day time temperatures great for exploring and also viewing all the native wildflowers in the area.
Daytime temperatures range from 18-20°C in spring and average 9°C in the evenings.
Getting there
Drive
From Perth the quickest route is via the Albany Hwy through Williams, Kojonup and to Mount Barker through to the South Coast Highway junction where you turn left towards Albany.
From here, travel approximately 10 kilometres to turn right onto the Lower Denmark Road.
100 metres further on turn right into Eden Road.
Follow the bitumen and after passing the first small bridge turn left at the next corner where you see a sign for Marbellup Farm then continue on the bitumen following the roadside signs towards the blueberry farm.
After crossing another small bridge with new barrier railing on both sides, turn left at Wolfe's Pump Road and follow that track for approximately 700 meters - it is unsealed but of good all weather construction suitable for all vehicles.
GO TO THE END OF WOLFES PUMP RD. WE ARE THE LAST PROPERTY ON WOLFES PUMP RD.
Please do not stop in at our neighbour's homes.
You will arrive at a set of large black steel gates at the entrance to the Padma Chalets.
There are two signs at the gate: Padma chalets and Padma retreat centre.
Once on the property follow the signs to find your accommodation – Our Nullaki chalet is on your right as you enter our property. Parking is at the lower end of the chalet. You can follow the sign. For our Wolfes Landing Chalet follow the signs straight ahead and there is also designated parking.
PLEASE MAKE SURE you approach our property via Eden Road not Lake Side Road.
The Eden Road access is all weather, for all vehicle use and clearly sign posted. The Lake side road is only for 4WDs and is not suitable.
